Masala popcorn is a perfect munch to enjoy while watching movies and to carry while traveling . This is one munch kids love and pick while we travel .
This week I shall be posting travel food . The food that we carry varies according to the travel mode . While we travel by road this Masala popcorn is a must , specially when we have kids traveling with us . The popcorn has a nutty flavour and is healthy too . I have tossed the regular popcorn in a coarse powder made from a variety of seeds and spices . The popcorn gets coated with this mix making it super delicious and healthy too .
I have used pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, flax seeds , sesame seeds and finally melon seeds . I dry roasted the seeds and made a coarse powder . The ratio of these seeds can vary , choose from what you like or what is available at home . If any of these is missing it’s perfectly okay , you need not rush to get it . Spices too can vary , I used chat masala , turmeric powder , red chilly powder and salt , but you can change these and use your own choice of seasoning . All you need to do is toss the popcorn, seasoning and oil together and you have a delicious nutty flavored popcorn .
1 pack MW popcorn
2 tbsp sunflower seeds
2 tbsp pumpkin seeds
2 tbsp flax seeds
2 tbsp sesame seeds
2 tbsp melon seeds
1/4 tsp chat masala
1/4 tsp red chilly powder
1/4 tsp roasted turmeric powder
Salt to taste
Prepare popcorn according to the instructions on the pack of popcorn .
Coarsely grind the ingredients under masala .
Using a tsp or two of oil or butter toss masala and popcorn together until the popcorn is well coated .
The popcorn is ready to eat .
