Dalma is a simple comforting daal from Orrisa. I made it for the Orrisa Thali and it ranked 5 stars from the family. The daal is very nutritious, as it is loaded with veggies. Now you have the option of using the veggies of your choice, though the most popular are Brinjal, raw plantain, raw papaya.and pumpkin. I used drum sticks as I did read about them in a couple of recipes. The most interesting part of the daal is the spice powder, it enhances the taste and gives it a real nice aroma. I even liked the tempering of this daal, ghee definitely makes it rich, yet comforting. we do have a choice to use mustard oil, but I preferred ghee.

I have added this daal to my routine menu and trust me everyone simply enjoys it, give it a try I am sure you will agree with me.
