Dhokla Cake

Dhokla Cake is a steamed lentil cake made with two different layers of lentils and rice . It is soft and spongy and adorns your breakfast table .

Our family is a Dhokla lover family and many a times we enjoy these as a meal for dinner. Actually dhokla is served for breakfast or as a tea time snack , but we prefer them as our dinner . Every time I make these dhoklas , I want to try a new variation . This time it is a Dhokla Cake . I have used both white and yellow dhokla batters . I added some carrots to the yellow batter to make it more healthy . With rice ,  different lentils and veggies it was a complete meal .

It is best to make this in a cake tin where you pour the white batter first , let steam till done , then pour the yellow batter and steam again . One can even add a layer of chutney after the white batter has cooked . You can add more veggies too . Finally temper the Cake and serve with your favourite chutney .
Cut into wedges and enjoy !

This is my Day 3 post under Steamed Snacks , where I posted Chiba Dhokli and Bhat na Muthiyas for the previous two days.

  1. Hehe… the cake looks really delicious, but at first bite, I may frown because it is not sweet… hehe… I totally loved all your snacks this week, all so healthy… and tasty too…
