Lachko Daal is a no frill daal . It is a simple boiled daal with just salt and turmeric.
As a kid I never liked such daals and found them very inspid , but over a period of time I enjoy this daal coming from Rajasthani Cuisine . Incidentally we have a Kutchi version and a Sindhi version of this daal too. Strange but both the versions taste different from this one and are definitely worth a try .
The lachko daal needs to be blended to get a smooth consistency and though it can be enjoyed with chapati and a drizzle of ghee , I served it with Maad and rice . Maad is a curry made from reserved rice water .This week I am working under Recipes with three ingredients and this daal fits into the theme beautifully, as it has just the Moong Daal as the main ingredient and salt and turmeric as sub ingredients . Lachko Daal was a part of protein rich Rajasthani Thali which I posted for Mega Marathon .
