Nimbu Paani is one of the most common drinks in India, perhaps you could call it Lemonade, with a mild variation. This is a perfect summer drink which refreshes and energizes you.
A very Happy New Year to all my friends and viewers. With the beginning of a new year I am posting a simple drink, but a drink which shall energize and refresh you !
Elevenses is short break for light refreshments, usually with tea or coffee, taken at about eleven o’clock in the morning. The name and details vary between countries . In some countries they have biscuits and tea or coffee , whereas some countries they even have whiskey . Anyways this theme reminded me of mom , and I picked it up right away .
Mom was very very disciplined with her food habits . Early morning she would sip on warm water and honey instead of tea . Her breakfast was a glass of milk and fruits . Mango was her favourite fruit and almost throughout summer she would have it . Sometimes it was around 11 am that she would feel she needed a little bite to keep her active till lunch. And that bite would normally be a single sliced sandwich with Nimbu Paani.
I would tell her to eat the full sandwich or something more interesting , but she had her rules . So for the first day under the theme Elevenses I am posting a sandwich with Nimbu Paani . The sandwich is a regular cucumber tomato and chutney sandwich , while it is the Lemon drink which made her energetic. The Nimbu Paani with some sugar and salt actually refreshes you and is one of the best rejuvenating drinks. Mom normally chilled the drink and removed the ice . Here is the Nimbu Paani just the way mom had ! Maa this is for you ! And I miss you !
