Pink Guava Juice is a delicious juice made with the pink aromatic guavas. It’s a perfect breakfast beverage which has an excellent source of Vitamin C.
I have always been fond of Guavas and particularly the pink variety. These are aromatic, sweet and range from pale pink to deep orange- magenta. This colour is due to the naturally occurring pigment called carotenoid. It is the same compound that gives carrots and tomatoes that distinct red colour.
These pink Guavas have an interesting story. A few months back I visited a temple along with my school friend and her sister. The temple was about 2 hours drive and while returning we saw these carts which were full of pink guavas and those big red chillies. We decided to buy some guavas as well as the chillies and asked the rates. We were in a fun-loving mood so asked the vendor to quote price for half of his cart! The guy was zapped but quoted a good price so we bought 40 kg of these guavas and 10 kg of red chillies. Our car boot was full and once we left the place we were in peels of laughter!
So what do we do with so many guavas? Sell them at a higher price? Distribute to friends and neighbours? Make chutney or some preserve? After getting home, my friend made sure that she drops half of the guavas at my place. They were a mixed lot, some ripe and some yet to ripe. It was a task sorting them, and the whole house had their aroma. Finally, after three days I made pulp and froze it!
The frozen pulp works very well for a quick drink, and it not only looks pretty but is nutritious as well as delicious. It’s loved both by kids as well as adults and is my Day 1 post under Colourful Foods.
And if you are wondering what about the red chillies? Well, my friend, Sarita is very good with pickles, so she made the Stuffed Red Chilly Pickle and later sent to me.

Pink guavas are my favorite. Loved the little story.
40 kgs !!! wow, that’s just too much for my brain to process..hahaha..but trust you to come up with such a delicious looking drink. The baby pink colour looks so pleasing and the drink must have been fantastic Vaishali.
I would have gone crazy not knowing what to do with that guava lot. 🙂 The juice sounds super flavorful and the color is so pleasing to eyes.
OMG! How did you manage to get 40 kgs? I could never haver have dared. But freezing the pulp is a great idea. Loving the colorful guava juice. We very rarely get the pink guavas here.
This my son’s all time favorite juice. Love it.
