BM # 47 Week 1 Day 1
BM # 47 begins and this is one BM I was not going to participate as December is a very very busy month for me. The BM # 47 themes lured me and I signed up promising Valli to comment at my own pace.
Day 1 we have the theme where we were given a couple of menu cards and we were supposed to cook from it….three dishes , different courses.I chose the Puranmal’s menu. From what I know Puran mal is a Sindhi into restaurant business. For Day 1 it is Ragda Pattice which was in their Chaat section.
Ragda Pattice has been one of the most relished chaats in our house. In fact at times we make it into a lunch meal. We even add a Pav to this, well you could check that version here. Coming to today’s version, I made mini Pattice as this is our starter from the menu.
I have made the ragda also with a different recipe which is simpler and quicker.
Pattice
4 boiled potatoes
Salt
Turmeric powder
Coriander leaves
1 tsp arrowroot powder
Peel the potatoes while they are still warm.
Mash and add all ingredients.
Mix well.
Make small balls and shape them into Pattice.
Shallow fry
Ragda
2 cup boiled white peas.
To be made into a paste
2 cloves garlic
Small bunch coriander leaves
1 tomato
Pinch turmeric powder
1/4 tsp red chilly powder
Pinch Garam masla
Pinch black salt
Pinch chat masala
Heat oil.
Add the paste and cook till all the moisture evaporates.
Add the boiled peas along with the water.
Boil for a few minutes till well combined.
Assembling the Ragda Pattice
Place a tikki in a bowl.
Put a ladle ful of the ragda.
Drizzle garlic chutney, green chutney and sweet tamarind chutney,
Sprinkle nylon sev and coriander leaves.
Garnish with pomegranate pearls.
You could drizzle lemon juice if required.
Ragda lattice is my favorite chaat. I have to make it soon.
