Home made Namkeen is a mixture made with puffed rice , poha , peanuts and some other crunchy ingredients . It is slightly spicy with a tinge of sweetness .
I try to avoid these munches , somehow I don’t go beyond my three meals , but truly speaking this home made namkeen is a total addiction and I love to munch on it . It is a perfect munch for these mid afternoons . Normally I have some fruits around 8 a.m and then crave to eat something salty around mid afternoon. This is the time when I like this munch . A small bowl and my salt craving is over , not only that , it keeps me going for the next two hours . It has such a wonderful crunch and is so simple to make . It
Kurmura, or puffed rice is the base of this namkeen and at least 50 % of it has to be this roasted kurmura. Rest of the ingredients are totally optional . You can add them according to your preference. I normally like to roast some poha , peanuts , cornflakes, potato straws and dalia . Curry leaves and green chillies are a must to make it flavourful. If you like it spicy then add more chillies , I keep varying the spice levels as per requirement . This is one munch that I used to send Mom also and she would enjoy it with her two year old great grand son.
This is my Day 2 post under theme Elevenses .

I always find namkeen mixture very spicy. Making it at home should solve that problem. This is a great recipe. Perfect snack.

This is one of my fav crunchy snacks. Even now we buy packs of Pori and make this in huge quantities. A little different though. I love your version with potato straws and corn flakes.
This is very addictive but when compared to other this is guilt-free for sure. Love it and perfect for the elevenses theme. 🙂
