Togari Nuchhin Unde are steamed lentil dumplings , which are an ideal protein-packed healthy breakfast from the Karnataka region of South India.

Instructions
  1. Wash and soak the dal for 2 hours , Drain.
  2. Grind with red and green chillies , ginger, coconut and asafoetida to a coarse paste. Do not add water while grinding .
  3. Mix in salt , cooking soda and coriander leaves.
  4. Form the dough into small lemon sized balls and shape into ovals .
  5. Steam in a greased tray of a steamer for 10-12 minutes.
  6. Let cool and arrange in a shallow tray.
Tempering
  1. Heat oil , add mustard seeds . As soon as they splutter , pour over the steamed dumplings .
  2. Sprinkle lemon juice and garnish with coconut and coriander leaves .
