Whole Wheat Rose Cookies are delicious cookies made with whole wheat flour and a hint of rose flavouring. These cookies have a wonderful crunch and a lingering taste.
Rose is a flavour which is really intoxicating and I simply love it. The cookies are simple, easy and are done in a very short time. The aroma of the Rose is the highlight of the cookie and the house is full of its aroma as they bake. The Whole Wheat Cookies are ideal for kids lunch box, they even make a wonderful edible gift. They can also be packed as a travel munch.
I have used rose essence in these cookies, but I have seen recipes with rose syrup too. Obviously, for that, you would have to cut down on the sugar as the syrup has sugar.
The cookies are made with whole wheat, but one can easily substitute other flours or use Maida for them. I must say it’s a versatile cookie where you can customise it with different ingredients. Each ingredient will change the texture and flavour of the cookies. I have been meaning to make these with jaggery and rose syrup, but have been procrastinating. If you try these or give them a twist do let me know.
