Fada ni Lapsi

Fada ni Lapsi is a porridge which is cooked with broken wheat along with pure ghee , sugar / jaggery and cardamom . This comes from a Gujarati kitchen .

  • 3 tbsp ghee
  • 1/2 cup broken wheat
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • pinch Largecardamom powder
  • Nuts to garnish


  • Heat ghee preferably in a nonstick pan .
  • Add broken wheat and roast , stirring continuously till it turns golden .
  • Add 2 cups warm water and mix well .
  • Let the water boil , then simmer the gas and let the wheat cook for about 15 minutes or till done . Stir at regular intervals .
  • Add the sugar and cardamom powder .
  • Mix well , simmer and cook for another 5-7 minutes or till ghee separates .
  • Serve garnished with nuts .
