Grind all ingredients under the paste .
Wash and soak the dal at least 2 hours prior to cooking rice .
Wash and soak rice for 30 minutes .
Peel onions and potatoes , wash and slit them .
Sprinkle with salt . Let stand for 10-15 minutes .
Stuff the onions and potatoes with the ground paste .
Heat 2 tbsp of ghee and add a pinch of asafoetida .
Add the stuffed vegetables and peas , sauté for a few minutes .
Add rice and dal , all spices and sauté again .
Add 31/4 cups water. Let the rice cook 75 % , then cover and cook on dum till done .
For cooking on dum place a iron griddle under the pot , cover the pot with a lid and place a heavy object ( i used my brass mortar & pestle )
Drizzle hot ghee before serving .
Serve with Banarasi Laal Mirch ka Achaar and Dahi .
