Orange Upside Down Cake
Orange Upside Down Cake is a cake made with oranges and chocolate cake batter . The caramelized oranges are the highlight of the cake .
- 11/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1/3 cup oil
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp vanilla essence
- 1 tbsp orange zest
- 4 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp butter
- Orange slices
In a nonstick pan heat sugar.
Let dissolve , add butter .
Let the sugar turn golden , keep stirring to get a uniform colour .
Pour the caramelised sugar into the baking tin and arrange the orange slices .
Keep the tin aside .
Sieve the dry ingredients.
Warm the water and add sugar , add oil and mix.
Let the water come to room temperature.
Mix the ingredients into the wet.
Mix well to make a smooth batter.
Pour the batter into the prepared mould.
Bake at 180 deg C for35 to 40 minutes or until screwer comes out clean.
Let the cake cool.
Flip over the cake and serve.
