Paneer ke Pakore

Spiced fritters made from cottage cheese, fried to a golden served with fresh mint chutney. A perfect party snack.

  • 250 pieces gms paneer chopped into rectangular
  • oil for deep-frying

Spice Powder

  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp coriander-cumin seeds powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried mango powder
  • 1/2 tsp chaat masala
  • Salt to taste

For The Batter

  • 1 cup chick pea flour
  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 pinches of asafoetida
  • 1 tbsp hot
  • pinch aof cooking soda
  • Salt to taste


  • Method
  • Combine all the batter ingredients along with ½ cup of water in a deep bowl and mix well. Keep aside.
  • Cut the paneer into thick rectangular pieces , making a slit in between . Do not cut through .
  • Mix all the spices under spice powder .
  • Fill the spice powder in the paneer slit .
  • Heat the oil in a deep non-stick kadhai, dip each paneer piece in the batter, a few at a time and deep-fry on a medium flame till golden .
  • Serve hot with Chutney .
