Missal Pav , a new version

A typical Maharashtrian dish, which is full of protein .It can be served as a snack or even as a meal.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup moong sprouts
  • 1 cup white peas soak for 4-6 hours
  • pinch turmeric powder
  • salt to taste

Missal Masala

  • 1 tsp oil
  • 1 medium onion
  • 4-5 cloves garlic
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 4 tbsp dry coconut

Missal

  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 3 large tomatoes finely chopped
  • 1 tsp red chilly powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp missal masala
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  • Add salt and turmeric and boil the soaked peas and sprouts to 2 whistles.
  • Roast the missal masala , adding a little water make a paste.
  • Heat oil .
  • Add onions and sauté till translucent.
  • Add tomatoes , cook till mushy .
  • Add all spices , the missal masala and mix well .
  • Add the boiled sprouts and peas.
  • Add water adjusting the consistency of gravy .
  • Simmer for 8-10 minutes .
  • Serve with pav and farsan.
