Mun Thod / Thai Sweet Potato Cakes

A very pleasing Thai sweet potato cake with sweet, salty, spicy and tangy flavors.

Ingredients

  • 250 gms sweet potato boiled, peeled and mashed
  • 125 gms potatoes boiled, peeled mashed
  • 1 tbsp coriander leaves
  • 25 gms toasted coconut
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp all purpose flour
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2-3 green chilly
  • 25 gms sesame seeds
  • salt to taste
  • ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Boil the sweet potatoes and potatoes .
  • Peel and mash them.
  • Heat a tsp oil and fry garlic and green chilly , add to the mashed potatoes.
  • Add chopped coriander, toasted coconut , soya sauce, lemon juice , salt and pepper .
  • With lightly floured hands , form the mixture into small balls .
  • Flatten these and roll in sesame seeds, make sure the seeds stick well .
  • Shallow fry till light and golden .
