Soak the urad daal for at least 2 hours.
Wash and grind it coarsely .
Using a nonstick pan heat a tbsp of oil . Add cumin seeds , let crackle .
Add asafoetida and fennel seeds .
Add the coarsely ground Daal and all spices .
Sauté , stirring continuously .
Cook the mixture till there's no moisture .
Let cool , add coriander leaves .
