Ooty Varky

Ooty Varky is a crisp fried or baked snack from the beautiful hill station Ooty . This is a Tamilnadu Special .

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup wheat flour
  • 1 tbsp rice flour
  • 1 tbsp semolina
  • Pinch salt
  • Pinch cooking soda
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • Water for kneading the dough
  • Oil to deep fry

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl add the wheat flour, rava, rice flour, salt and sugar, mix well.
  • Add the ghee and mix well.
  • Gradually add water and knead the dough to a chapati dough consistency .
  • Pinch out lemon sized balls and roll them .
  • Deep fry these balls in medium to hot oil till crisp and golden.
