Z - Zebra Cake

Zebra Cake is a delicacy of Africa, though it is very popular in US, a cake which will remind you of a Zebra due to it's stripes.

Ingredients

  • 11/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup curd
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
  • 2 tsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp coffee powder
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  • Sieve flour, baking powder, baking soda.
  • Mix curd, sugar powder, vanilla essence, milk and oil.
  • Mix the dry ingredients to the wet and make a smooth batter.
  • Divide the batter into two parts.
  • Add cocoa and coffee to one.
  • Take about 2 tbsp batter of vanilla flavour , then on top of the vanilla pour 2 tbsp of chocolate batter.
  • Similarly finish all batter using it alternatively. You shall see concentric circles are formed.
  • Tap the tin gently and place the cake in a preheated oven.
  • Bake at 180 deg C for 30-35 minutes or till a skewer comes out clean.
  • Remove the cake and let it cool for 15 minutes.
  • Remove the cake and let it cool for 15 minutes.
  • Cut into wedges and serve.
