Coming to the alphabet U, I picked a cake from United Kingdom. Upside Down Cake. Well the most popular is the Pineapple one but now you get to see a lot of variations. I wanted to bake a traditional cake and yet something different, so I gave a slight twist to this cake. I added Oreos . Somehow the chocolate element makes any cake or dessert more desirable.

Upside down cakes are cakes that are baked in a single pan and then served upside down. One can use a loose bottom or spring foam pan to make it easy to un mould. The pan should be greased and then a layer of fruit should be placed and then the batter is poured. The fruit layer should be done in a decorative style as the cake is going to be inverted and this is going to be the face of the cake. A layer of caramel or sugar could be the base and then the next layer could be fruits, the variations are umpteen, and one just needs to get innovative.

I baked the cake in a loose bottom tin. After greasing I sprinkled some flour. (this was a mistake ) I placed some chocolate Oreos and then placed the pineapple slices and cherries in the center. I poured the batter and baked the cake. After I removed the cake from the pan I saw the Oreos but the pineapple slices went down, the flour on the cake showed ( that’s why I said it was a mistake ). After de moulding I added some cherries. The cake turned out absolutely fantastic with the flavors. The baked pineapple slices, cherries tasted awesome and the in between Oreo wow , it was a treat. So let’s get to the recipe for Upside Down Cake with Pineapple and Oreos for A – Z Baking around the World.

  1. Love this chocolate-y twist to the classic upside down cake. Looks gorgeous! And like you said, chocolate always increases the desirability of any dish. Yum yum. It has been on my list for too long without baking,..now I will try it with the Oreos!!

  2. How beautiful those oreos are looking. I love the upside down cakes and this one is just amazing.
