Water Melon Shake is a super refreshing summer drink made with milk, rose syrup, basil seeds and watermelon cubes. The famous street food is particularly sold during Ramadan festival on the streets of Old Delhi.
The letter W brings us to Watermelon Shake . While searching my dish for this alphabet I couldn’t find anything suitable and decided to post chilled watermelon which is sold on the streets of almost all cities , but my advanced search led me to this extremely attractive, delicious and refreshing drink .
You shall find this shake on the streets of Delhi during summers . The drink is super refreshing and is sold by a vendor called Nawab Quereshi who hails from Uttar Pradesh . Interestingly the drink is called Pyar Mohabbat Mazaa , which means love , affection and fun . The vendor makes it with Amul milk , uses Rose syrup for that pink hue and flavor and watermelon cubes for that crunch . Can you believe this Shake is priced at Rs. 10 only .
Frankly speaking I have never had this shake in Delhi , as Nawab Quereshi is the only vendor that I have heard of , and it is in a area where I have never been , but I definitely would love to visit this stall which is up only during summers . Nawab Quereshi sells fruit in winters .
I made two versions of this shake as I am not a milk person and I did not want to miss on this refreshing drink and yet post the authentic version. The first version is with milk and the second with water. The basil seeds and the ice cream take the shake to another level . The watermelon cubes are a total treat as they give a special crunch . One thing is for sure the Pyar Mohabat Mazaa needs to be chilled so do add some crushed ice right in the beginning , and better still chill the glass too . Chilling the glass reminds me of my dad who always use to put his glass in the freezer even for water !
I used the Jannat -e- Gulab , a rose preserve that I make but you could use store bought Rooh A fza or any rose syrup that you like . The recipe makes one serving , you could always make in a big jug.
