Imli wale Aaloo ki Chaat

Imli wale Aaloo ki Chat is a tangy , spicy and crunchy chaat with potatoes and onions. The highlight of the chaat is imli or tamarind , which makes it absolutely irresistible .

The alphabet ‘ I ‘ has always been tough , tangy tamarind has always come to my rescue . Imli is the Hindi word used for tamarind . I have made a Imli ki Kulfi for ‘I ‘in one of the previous marathons and today it is Imli wale Aloo ki Chaat .

Imli Wale Aaloo ki Chaat takes me back to my childhood . I really can’t remember much , but I remember I ate this chaat in Jaipur . We were visiting some family and I had cousins who took me out . The chaat left a imprint ! Yes it was very peculiar , there was crushed ice over these spiced tangy potatoes . Fortunately I  am still in contact with that distant cousin and got the recipe from her . Sad that the vendor has passed away and the chaat is no more available .

It was due to the ice that this chaat had etched my memory , and I had always wondered why ice was added in a chaat ! now that I made this chaat I realised It chilled the potatoes and diluted the tamarind water to create a nice chilled , spicy and tangy chaat .

Seriously it is hard for me to express the flavours , but I simply loved the chaat , it is very quick to assemble and tastes absolutely amazing , lip smacking . I loved the sauce and after finishing the potatoes , relished the sauce , literally licked off the bowl ! He! he ! !

Imli wale Aaloo ki Chaat is my Day 3 post for the A to Z series under the theme Pick One State and Make Three . This month I have picked Rajasthan and we worked with G , H and I alphabets .
