Leele Chutney

Leele Chutney is the typical green chutney from Gujrati homes . The word “ Leele “ means green.

The Chutney is made with coriander , green chillies and peanuts . A drizzle of lemon juice and a pinch of sugar is a must . This chutney is served with most of Gujrati snacks . Gujrat is popular for its farsaan , it can be baafelo or Tadelo , which means steamed or fried . The combination to these farsaans are different chutneys . All farsaans have their fixed chutneys . However spicy they might be , they all have a hint of sweetness .

The Leele Chutney is normally served with samosas , bhajiya and as a part of daily meal . The peanuts in the Chutney give it a good body and a super nutty flavour . Sugar , salt and spice are all balanced like any other authentic Gujrati dish .

I had served the Leele Chutney with Gujrati Nashto , where I made Chopdas , which is another form of Thepla served in Gujrati homes .

The Leele Chutney is my Day 1 post for the Special Theme .

  1. Chutney looks delicious and nice presentation. My eyes are on that bowl of spicy relish behind the chutney in the second bowl. Probably tindora and mouthwatering !!

  2. Growing up green chutney was a must with meals and was made fresh everyday. It was made with coconut instead of peanuts but the idea was the same. Perfect condiment !

  3. That is such a spicy and tangy chutney. We rarely make Chutneys for snacks in Andhra, so this sounds very interesting. Would love to try it out.

  4. OMG! I just made this the other day but didn’t know it was a thing and so didn’t click pictures. We loved the flavor and your pictures remind me of the flavor.

  5. I make this as a variation to the normal green chutney we make with snacks.. never knew it had a lovely name.. .leele ! wow.. nice colour, vaishali
