Pyaz Imli ki Chutney

Pyaz Imli ki Chutney is a spicy , tangy , crunchy chutney made with tamarind , onions , green chilly and mint .

Normally we blend all ingredients and make either a coarse or a fine paste for a chutney , but the Pyaz Imli ki Chutney is where we add chopped onions to the tamarind purée , giving it a wonderful crunch and body . The mint and chilly can be made into a fine or a coarse paste depending on personal choice . This is one chutney which is excellent accompaniment to Amritsari Chole . We can serve it with daals and curries too , it will taste equally delicious .

I made this Chutney as a part of the Amritsari meal I served for Flatbread and More . The meal had Amritsari Kulcha , Chole , Pyaz Imli ki Chutney and Gulab Phirni . I still remember how this chutney changed the taste of Chole . It took the meal a step ahead , but that’s what we look for when making a accompaniment , right ?

Do give it a try and give your feedback . It’s quick and simple , and super delicious .

  1. I am salivating read the recipe.. onions, green chili in tangy tamarind pulp must have tasted amazing. Will try it next time I make chole . This chutney reminds me of pacchi pulusu, though that is uncooked. diluted tamarind.

  2. Wow, what an interesting chutney that is Vaishali. Tangy with the bite of onion, chillies and flavor from mint – it sound absolutely delicious.
