I am cooking Thai dishes for the Oceanic Cuisine theme . Yesterday it was a cucumber salad , for today I have Sweet Potato Cakes . These are just like our Tikkis and they make a perfect evening snack .
The Tikkis have a very pleasing flavor , they are spicy , tangy , salty and slightly sweet . You can say typical Thai flavors . I served them with Sweet and Sour dip . The dip is sweet and tangy, the recipe for it shall follow soon..For now it is these Sweet Potato Cakes.
Sweet Potato Cakes ( Mun Thod )
Ingredients
250 gms sweet potato
125 gms potatoes
1 tbsp coriander leaves
25 gms toasted coconut
1 tsp soya sauce
1/2 tsp lemon juice
1 tbsp all purpose flour
3 cloves garlic
2-3 green chilli
25 gms sesame seeds
Salt and pepper to taste
Method
Boil the sweet potatoes and potatoes .
Peel and mash them.
Heat a tsp oil and fry garlic and green chilly , add to the mashed potatoes.
Add chopped coriander, toasted coconut , soy sauce, lemon juice , salt and pepper .
With lightly floured hands , form the mixture into small balls .
Flatten these and roll in sesame seeds, make sure the seeds stick well .
Shallow fry till light and golden .

Mun Thod / Thai Sweet Potato Cakes
A very pleasing Thai sweet potato cake with sweet, salty, spicy and tangy flavors.

Not a fan of sweet potatoes… but with that dip, I feel these patties would be amazing…
