Dalgona Coffee

Dalgona Coffee is a smooth, velvety and frothy coffee that is made by whipping coffee, sugar and water.

As a young college girl, we used to get together for our work assignments and it is at that time, we used to pick a big mug, add coffee, sugar, and hot water and beat till frothy. We would generally divide this into two or three cups and then pour a mix of boiled milk and water. This would create a beautiful smooth froth. A dash of sprinkled cocoa powder would highlight that coffee. This was our favourite coffee.

The same coffee has come back after years with the name Dalgona. It was doing big rounds on blogs, Instagram and the name Dalgona became a rage. Dalgona is derived from a Korean sweet, due to the resemblance in taste, but it’s the same whipped coffee, sugar and hot water!

One needs to whip up these three ingredients till they are creamy and fluffy in texture, till this texture holds its shape for a while and then you add either hot or cold milk. You will instantly see a beautiful froth coming up.

The chilled, soft, silky coffee makes a wonderful summer beverage, yes I am no coffee/tea fan, but trust me when someone offers you a coffee-like Dalgona , you can’t resist.
