Vatana Bateta nu Paratha is a stuffed flat bread made with a stuffing of peas .The dough is made with potatoes and flour .
Vatana is the Gujrati name for green peas and bateta is potatoes . Since I chose to give a Gujju name I decided to make the paratha following the typical Gujju method of making the stuffing . Whenever I have made parathas with peas I have always boiled them , but today I kept them raw . The Lilva Kachori is made by crushing the raw peas or fresh pigeon pea . I followed the same style. I pulsed the peas along with ginger , green chillies and mint . The mixture should be coarse . One needs to sauté the mix to get rid of the raw smell of peas . After seasoning cool the mixture . The dough is made by kneading in warm boiled potatoes and spices , this makes the parathas very soft .
The parathas should be roasted in ghee to get a lovely flavor . I served these with Gujrati Keri no Gadyo Aathano , Mint Chutney and buttermilk , the typical accompaniments of Gujrati cuisine .
Originally I had planned these parathas for the alphabet V, under the theme Flatbreads and More, but later made Vedhmi which is a sweet Gujju poli. However I am posting these parathas as my Day 3 post under Kids Delight , Travel Food . Parathas make excellent travel food , specially while travelling by road or train .

Wow Vaishali, what a lovely post. Stuffed potato Parantha and Peas parathas are well known but the combo like this, dough with potatoes and filling with peas, is totally different new for me. Thanks for sharing.
I would love this Vaishali. Somehow any type of peas stuffing makes it all the more interesting for me. Very nicely made.
This is a lovely paratha. I can imagine how soft it would be with the potato. The peas mixture sounds like a wonderful filling. Colorful and flavorful.

Very nice idea of kneading the dough with potato and stuffing the peas .. The paranthas look so soft and with the delicious peas filling. Sauteing peas with spices adds on to the flavour along with taking away the raw smell of peas.
These parathas are yummy to have at any meal. Potato based dough keeps the rotis softer and that filling is loaded with flavor.
